An A8 with a roof tent? Now that is a unique combination, is it yours?

Haha, no: a friend of a friend’s. He’s building a B&B in the south of France but has to rest every 4 hours for medical reasons momentarily. So he mounted this hahaha. Hero.
The stairs are on the other side ;-)

That makes sense, it’s probably way more comfortable than taking a rest in the car.

He actually wanted to buy a VW Transporter for hauling all his stuff from the bouwmarkt all the time, and to mount this. But after trying once he thought “what the hell”. That car is a beast hahaha.

Transporters aren’t necessary, big Audi’s like hauling trailers with stuff around.

VW Transporter all the things.
Double Back.

An Audi A6 estate, tinted windows and a small airbed would of been easier but less awesome I guess.

Haha, I’ll have to show him this one! He will just have to get that Transporter when he sees this ;-)

I saw one of those for the first time on the roof of a big suv recently, can’t remember what. I just thought it was a strangely large cargo box. That makes much more sense! If I had known about those in college I most definitely would have had one on the roof of my Accord rather than a ski box.

I knew it couldn’t be a normal cargo box it being this flat when he arrived. And I knew these were a thing. I just totally didn’t expect to see it on an A8 hahaha.

Totally. Forgot to ask what top speed was left after mounting it...

Imagine there’s a fair bit of lift going on at high speeds.

After i replace some stuff on my suspension and fiddle with the turbo i might get one of those. I have not seen for less than 1400usd. Granted it has been a bit since i last looked.

Imagine barely hearing/feeling issues with it with such a comfortable ride and air-suspension ;-)

I can imagine these being quite expensive knowing the owner of the A8. What Volvo would that be btw?

Possibly. I’m having flashbacks the the time I had a truck with a ladder rack. It didn’t make much noise, but it sure as heck made a lot of drag! I remember one really windy day, driving straight into the wind, I couldn’t even get it in overdrive if I tried to keep up with the 65mph speed limit. This setup would be worlds better than that, of course.

05 xc70. With every feature but rear camera and parking sensor, which I will be installing today along with bluetooth and aux in. While retaining the factory hu and nav. Cuz imIV and ebay are a good thing for me.
I also got tired of replacing my headlights. On the order of one bulb every 3 months. (And yes, I wear clean gloves during bulb handling.) So prime dayed myself some led h11. I would rather have something directly plug and play than try to place a couple of ballasts in a fairly crowded compartment, take apart the lamp and place a projector lens, and risk having my brain box dislike hid kit.
At some point i may try to find a samurai tdi or a lifted 240 or build my own if i can find cash for it. And then the clam tent will be ftw in any situation.

Hahaha... I remember the local police getting a Peugeot 405 automatic. After mounting the sirene-bar on top of the roof the top speed was limited to 130 km/h so they had to alter the final drive ratio.

Love the XC70. And a lifted 240 is great. But not as awesome as a Dangel!
Get one from Africa while you can!

Every once in a blue moon there is a peugeot or two on Craigslist near me. The last one i remember was a 505 turbo.

Skip on the 240 and the Samurai, a 505 Turbeaux is the one to get!
